I pretend to disclose the true meaning of Liberty to you as if I were an authoritative voice, with powers vested to me by Masonic Grandmasters. Not so. I am merely a mechansim for delivery of notions which must be endorsed or discarded according to their own merits. As such, i can temporarily remove the veil of modesty which prevents the assertion of truths we all feel daily, but are not confident enough to voice. The aim of any society must be to instill the confidence of self in its children so that they can be as close as possible to a force of nature, and unihibited these oracles might become vehicles for widsom infused in messages that originate beyond the cognition of individuals. The freedom to be sought through total lack of fear, and deliberate absence of deductive reason can channel ideas that may otherwise take centuries to emerge from Plato’s world of abstracts into our mundane daily world. Of course these must be taken with the understanding that they are only as good as the logic that resides in them, or the truth that resounds in the open listener. But before debasing the currency of my voice with truths well intentioned but poorly conveyed, its wise to turn to the banal but tangible reality that is our imminent threat, approaching ever more surely. The end will result from a drop in the worlds currently established conventions; Currenty and Trade Practices. Unviersal application of laws will break down if no elders are wise enough to call their leaders to task for breaking the established practices of trade. Similarly, if no respect for the objetive truth that science only partly describes is clearly imparted from the wise to the powerful, then the fall of our civilization will come, surely as teh shoulders upon which Isaac Newton stood will become cracked bones and laid low.
I am a Mayflower Egyptian. I am a Muslim Arab that is a proven descendant of the man who invented Thanksgiving: Governor William Bradford. I challenge any whom claim to be patriots to seek out the spirit that inspired what is the purest pillar of American Identity, and in so doing discover the widest meaning of Liberty and Equality and Justice. I have found these to require our identity as Americans to become altered so as to include our human membership and thus the emergence of World Patriotism. Further, since our fathers have also been those whom have failed to instill any vestige of reverence for our universally shared origin as parts of nature, we can explain the new meaning of human fellowship with creation at large as Matriotism. This term is in my mind best captures the direction in which history is pushing us. I hold that it is this lesson of unity and membership in natures larger order which lies at the end of our historical experience of the period since the advent of agriculture and our abandonment of modes of living that had characterized human existence for 100 thousand years prior to the end of the last ice age.

Beyond being a nation, America is a human experiement. Our celebrated membership in a union of equals is not without its cumulative purpose, for we are duty bound to to explore and expand the spirit behind those notions that comprise our privilege. As we have been distracted from the fundamentals of what made this country great, we have suffered severe decline in our unity of purpose and become despised by those whom would have shared our once defiant assertions against tyranny. In Kenya, and Zimbabwe there is little reason to believe American fury can redress their claims that democracy is universal. The citizens of South America and Iran cannot reasonably believe that despots and exploitive corporations have reason to fear exposure to the light of fairness and public opinon. Likewise the inhabitants of most of the world have only to look at the sullen state of our ideology to find our basic division of economic power form political power has eroded away under the influence of Lobbyist and entrenched interests.
Our human fellowship is what gives our lives’ value, and thus duty demands that we evolve into World Patriots. There can be no justified reason for a nation of immigrants, whose claim to their land was extracted on the bayonette of a rifle from its native inhabitants, to deny the basic equivalence of those whom would immigrate today, at the greatest of risks. No moral equivalence can justify this. Ideologically Bankrupt is what we find ourselves today. And touting market philosophies will not suffice. Markets are natural phenomena, not an ideology. As such, it has elicited the scorn of the human polity, which inadvertently felt it too should be entitled to the rights and dignity granted the American Citizen. Thus, while nations are cynically held to the standards expected of exploitive despots, only the US generates the disappointment and remorse of exclusion, since it transcends ethic and cultural origins. In fact, while defending my native land and debating the notion that was thrust upon me: That America Has No Culture, I was to realize that in fact America’s is the only pervasive culture which is disseminated throught the world. No wonder the citizens and subjects of distant and sometimes openly hostile lands are visibly offended by the injustice of their exclusion. They watch their own identities become diluted while marketing campaigns give voice to implanted impulses to quell new desires and needs they will never afford.
There is no arbitrary border that can hold back the scorn of disilussioned polity. There are no oceans wide enough to hide from the masses of disenfranchised and dissilusioned souls, which are unaware of why they resent American failures to live up to stated lofty ideals, while dismissing other nations transgressions as expected. Nobody is shocked or hurt by Russian mockery of democracy, but mention the possibility of a Black President being outside the realm of accepted political reality and their sense of outrage is ignitied. This is because our Founding Fathers were gifted with the vision to erect a dream to which they tied the course of the nations’s progress over the generations. And this pursuit of a more perfect union was to explore and pursue the spirit behind the legal vehicles of government, which comprised the adminstrations framework. Mankind has a history of falling into the habit of mistaking the letters of the law for its spirit, making the sin of idolatry a recurring theme in religous displacement of spiritualism.
The worlds populations resent that the United States fails to live up to the standards it espouses, yet they dont act surprised in this way with any other world power’s divergence from its stated precepts. Only America makes the foreign citizen feel their entitlement to the same rights and standards is acceptable, although likely unconsiously held.
And its stated utopian ideology has unwittingly caused foreign populations to feel entitled to representation and membership in this priviledged polity.
I am asserting that within four years, the current period in human history will be set upon a course which will ultimately lead to the end of our epoch, or historical age. This disaster will stem from the failure of the current global entities to exert real leadership and counteract the chronic disenfranchisement which too many humans experience, to the shame of us all. This brief is a general outline on how to secure a successful resolution to the current conflict between Global Islamist Insurgency and the Prevailing American Incumbency. Looking down upon our time, those who may one day stand at the top of history will lament our failure to transcend tribal divisions and celebrate our universal equality. At the high tide of our civilization a call for such noble aspirations was voiced and its message was one which asserted that liberty as the right of all mankind, and challenged each successive generation to renew its claim to explore the spirit of those ideals. In time the pursuit of this goal was furthered by great leaps forwards which in turn brought bounty and power the likes of which never existed before, but its success was to seed the failure of its fundamental being, as the same entrenched interests it sought to displace were eventually encrusted in the fabric of its administration. And what had been an experiment in the separation of monetary power from political power became the advocate of a moral relativism which denied any such notion as truth, and came to believe that its universal human rights were only deserved by its own citizenry.
This is a strategy for reconciling the aspirations of those committed to establishing a new geopolitical order based on universal equality between nations, cultures, and individuals, and those whom would claim virtue for themselves while denying it to their fellow humans of other persuasions. The basic maxim of this proposition is that the incumbent power must regain a fundamentally internationalist stance, while the emergent challenger must appeal to the liberal notions of pluralism and coexistence with diverse segments within and without. In short this is a manifesto against the politics of division and intolerance, while at the same time being a handbook for how to secure victory in ideological conflicts characterized by asymmetry and amorphous organizational structures.
The two contesting world views are less different than they claim to be. I will first deal with the Islamist campaign, and make some assertions as to its fundamental objectives. Islamism is in fact Islamist Nationalism, and it is the emergent identity of nearly a fifth of the worlds population which is quickly supplanting the waning national identity of nation states which are superficially
Thus, the rediscovery of American Fundamentalism is complementary to the proposed doctrine of the Liberal Islamism, and victory for one cannot be viably realized without the success of the other. First to address the implicit aims of both camps. Islamist politics center on the emergent identity quickly supplanting that of the nation states in which Islam is the predominant religion. The lack of democratic mechanisms has denied a vehicle for cultural dynamism and natural progression from the centralized political power prevalent in feudal times to pluralistic liberal democracy found in most post industrial service economies. The regimes whom inherited power from the colonial administrations have largely failed at providing a realistic option for the advancement of their peoples. Thus rather than a dynamic cultural identity changing gradually and taking shape over the years, the Islamist ideal is fervently adherent to a tradition which existed in the 7th century.
America is not just a nation. America is a human experiment. My America is not the epic superpower, or the genuine and earnest country, but rather the ideal towards which great leaders pointed when describing how to build a more perfect union. It is the memory of a distant year when a Grandmother explained to a child that he could be president one day, regardless of how hard it was to pronounce his name. America in its purest form is an invisible point on a horizon beyond our time. It is a notion so simple and pure that it can never be attained, but only pursued. It is the Utopia founded on Liberty, Equality, and Justice. And it’s not only a truth that holds for its citizens, it is an universal trait of mankind that transcends borders, religions, and wealth.
Failing to live up to these noble concepts is inevitable, but failing to reach for them anew with every new generation is the denial of the fundamental nature of the American Premise. Thus, facing the question of what robbed us of our innocence, the American patriot must first question the arbitrary nature of our relationships with the rest of the world. Today, to be a true patriot the American thinker must consider the duty they have to be a World Patriot, and to denounce the fallacy that the self evident truths alluded to in the declaration of Independence were meant only for those lucky enough to be American Citizens. The impartial and objective support for any people who claim their rights to be free and proud must be the single tenet of our foreign policy. By framing our political aspirations in such idealistic and utopian terms, we have inadvertently invited the world to consider themselves part of the American Polity, and our failure to live up to those lofty standards has caused latent resentment which can be witnessed not only in those places openly hostile, but also in the complacent indifference of our allies. More pronounced the opposition to America; the more likely is there a thwarted hope, which once filled minds with enthusiasm and admiration.
The Islamic phenomenon must be viewed in terms which underscore the historical precedents which one can trace, in which nations defeated in wars or otherwise came to suffer from mass inferiority complex. Entire populations feeling the pangs of inadequacy and wounded pride can become subject to the appeal of demagogues, who may promise to restore their countries to some romanticized past golden age, but these false leaders invariably point to scapegoats as the cause of present misery. From the family unit, to the tribe, to the nation; humans long to be proud of their membership in a group which they come to identify with. When this longing is thwarted by wars or historical circumstance, the seeds of resentment are sown, and soon emerge as ardent nationalism taken to the extreme, or even vitriolic hatred of perceived transgressors against what they feel is their rightful place as equals in the community of nations. In terms of social maladies, Islamic Fundamentalism is merely the latest manifestation of the same widespread psychological conditions which resulted in the European Fascist movements or the emergence of groups such as the KKK in the post Civil War south.
Islam is not just a religion, but contains the principles and laws which if implemented correctly would result in an egalitarian and just state nation not unlike that dreamed by the philosophers whom inspired the American founding fathers. Justice and Equality being central to the spirit of Islam’s laws. The emergence of a new national identity is an inevitable consequence of history, and cannot be stopped with a world war, or with containment or sanctions. It is clear by the resurgence of those nations defeated in global wars of the past centuries, that the self determination of a people is inexorably satisfied, often with undesirable consequences commensurate with the degree to which incumbent nations moved to suppress them. Whether or not such strategies are viable can furthermore be dismissed as peripheral, once the view is taken that equality between the world’s cultures and nations is the natural extension of the same precepts governing the treatment of individuals under the law.
Asymmetrical conflict cannot be understood in terms of conventional war, much less won by its principles. Instead the ideological struggle seeks to secure not territories, but to disseminate paradigms which will lay the groundwork for the subsequent seizing of power by more conventional tactics. This strategy to undermine the current geopolitical structure in the Middle East is clearly being orchestrated by radical elements whose provocation through violence is aimed to cause a predictable reaction on part of the present superpower. This in turn will create a series of military, political, cultural, and economic contingencies which will ultimately result in the radicalization of the popular mindsets in both Muslim, and non Muslim nations. To respond to such provocations with coercion and physical power is to play into the hands of those who stand to benefit from the division of the world community into Us and Them. Conversely, to deny the divisive aims of aspiring conspirators, the notion of patriotism must be discarded in favor of a new doctrine that can be called that of the World Patriot.
In addressing the use of cultural weapons to win ideological conflicts, I submit that war is itself become an obsolete concept, along with victory at the overt expense of one’s enemies. Rather waging peace to secure the victory both sides are striving for is to defeat the viewpoint that the world is a zero sum game, and that my gain must be my opponents loss. This dated fallacy is evident by the ease with which the world’s only superpower has a professional military which is tied down in two open conflicts against overwhelmingly inferior opponents both in terms of numbers, equipment and training.
